Types of TV monitors with their updation of features and quality improvement as time changed

TV monitors looks

TV Monitors has a long history of about how its quality changed with time.TV monitors latest features satisfies the customers in every respect. Finally,we need a better quality image, audio or video.

CRT TV Monitors

History :-The CRT was invented by the German physicist Ferdinand Braun in 1897.It is a low temperature cathode tube and phosphorus is coated on the screen layer. It was a modification of earlier Crookes tube.

CRT(Cathode Ray Tube):- Cathode Ray Tube were used in the olden days .These kind of TV monitors were very heavy by weight.  The reason was that we needed a projector gun along with the screen. The projector gun emits the electrons. The electrons hits the screen and excites the particles on it.Hence an image is formed by combination of coordinate points where pixels are striked. Upto the year 2000 we had these kind of TVs.

Advantages of CRT :-

1)The resolution of image is fairly better.

2)Faster response to still images and motion pictures.

3)Cost was not so high and people can easily buy it.

Disadvantages of CRT :-

1)Brightness was low compared to present day LCDs or LEDs.

2)Chances for distortion of images was more.

LCD TV Monitors

History :- The first LCD was produced in the year 1972  by T Peter Brody and his team members.

By the word LCD we mean ‘Liquid Crystal Display’.These TV monitor is very thin.Firstly, we need an external light source like a fluorescent bulb as LCDs does not produce its own light. The monitor is very flat which may or may not allow light to pass through it.The monitor is divided into different segments. Each block in a segment contains liquid crystals. As the electric current changes, the colour and visibility level changes for the liquid crystals.

Advantages of LCD :-

1)Fulfills the viewer’s demand for sharpness, brightness and undisturbed still or motion pictures.

2)Consumes less electricity.

Disadvantages :-

1)Colours of images are not clear sometimes.

2)Slow response.

History:-The first Light Emitting Diode was developed by Nick Holonyak in the year 1962.

LED stands for “Light Emitting Diode”.This is an updated version of LCD only.In this category instead of light source like fluorescent bulb we use semiconductor diodes which emits light. The advantage is that we can get very thinner monitor. Also the motive of designers to get a narrower monitors is fulfilled. There are two types of LEDs:-

Direct LEDThe set  of LEDs are located exactly at the rear end of the screen. We can attain an effective focusing of light by this mode. There is an arrangement of alternating darkness and light by each cells.

Edge-lit LEDThe LEDs are arranged around the frame of television. The light is focused after reflection towards the centre. The samples of image produced is thinner. The advantages of LEDs are nominal cost, narrow size, supportive universally. The image quality is still average from a list of different monitors.

Advantages of LED :-

1)Highly efficient image quality.

2)Prices of these monitors are affordable in the market these days.

3)Every component of LED monitors are strong.Hence LED is highly durable.

Disadvantages of LED :-

1)Complexity in designing by manufacturers.

2)LEDs are affected by temperature or with time as the monitor gets old.

LED TV Monitors

History :-The Plasma TV was invented together by three people  Donald Bitzer, H. Gene Slottow, and graduate student Robert Willson.

The Plasma TV is mechanically designed by using two sheets of glasses and gases. The gases are present in between the upper and lower glass. As there is a flow of electricity, the gases react and causes illumination.Plasma is above all other types of monitors when compared about the quality of image obtained. So we have the best quality image and larger screens generally in this type.

Advantages of Plasma TV :-

1)Surpassed other older technology models with respect to brightness, resolution and wider viewing angle.

2)Display mechanism is nice as all pixels are lit up simultaneously.

Disadvantages of Plasma TV :-

1)Prone to be easily damaged on being slightly burnt.

2)Poor reproduction of black color.

PLASMA TV Monitors

History of OLED :- The development started by the year 2010 and steps were taken to create models of OLED in series.

OLED is the latest advanced technology monitors in the market.OLED is the name for ‘Organic Light Emitting Diode’ .Here carbon is used and high electric current is passed. In addition to being superior in quality the OLEDs are highly flexible and adaptive. The users can very profoundly change colours, contrast, brightness etc.But the OLEDs are very expensive since its release in the market.

Advantages of OLED :-

1)Known for its efficient flexibility.

2)Larger field of view.

1)Easily damaged by water.

2)Manufacturing cost even more than LCDs or LEDs.

The different brand companies of types of TV monitors are SAMSUNG,LG,MICROMAX,SONY etc.
